Politicians are pushing dangerous mask ban bills from Los Angeles to New York, driven by a corporate agenda which wants to surveil us, deter us from protesting genocide and empire, and get us back to work and shopping. But the resistance to mask bans is also growing. Even Democracy Now! finally reported on this concerning trend which is being pushed by actors like the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research. One of the sponsors of the mask ban bill in the NY State Legislator recently withdrew their name due to pressure. Keep on calling!

We all must take action to stop this attack on our bodily autonomy, our privacy, our rights and our health. US mask bans originated in the 1840s to suppress social protest, and being brought back deliberately to suppress demonstrations around Palestine, and they will be used to target BIPOC people, disabled people and pro-Palestine demonstrators.

From New York to North Carolina, and everywhere in between continue to tell your elected officials to oppose mask ban legislation. Wearing a mask in public spaces and particularly at political meetings and protests is an essential way to register your opposition.
