TODAY: Call your Senators to Demand we stop using US tax dollars for Israel’s War Crimes``
Welcome to the Healthcare Workers for Palestine - MA Substack
Dear friends and colleagues,
Thank you for joining us in calling on our legislators to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. As the devastation in Gaza grows, our movement for a free Palestine grows, and we all work to demand that our tax dollars are used to promote health and human rights, not genocide, and for a free Palestine. We hope this will be the first of intermittent email communications (no more than once or twice weekly) with key action alerts, like this one.
At this moment, we urge you to call your senators to demand they support Bernie Sanders’ resolution to investigate Israeli human rights abuses. Gaza has only 6 working ambulances and 6 partially functioning hospitals left. The UN reports that aid convoys have been detained and attacked, and the World Food Program warns that 2.2 million people (the entire population of Gaza) face the imminent risk of famine, should we continue to allow this crisis to persist.

Call your Senators TODAY to vote YES on Senator Sanders’ 502B Resolution to Demand Investigation of Israeli Human Rights Violations In Gaza
The US Senate is set to vote TODAY, Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 on a resolution under Section 502B(c) of the Foreign Assistance Act to force a debate on the indiscriminate bombing being carried out by the Israeli military.
With a simple majority vote in the Senate, the resolution would require the State Department to submit a report on Israel's human rights practices within 30 days, including information "concerning alleged violations of internationally recognized human rights by the government of Israel" and the U.S. role in such violations. It would also cut off all security assistance to Israel if the State Department fails to produce the required report. Detailed background article from Just Security here.
The question the Senate will be voting on is this: Do you support asking the State Department for information on whether human rights violations may have occurred using U.S. equipment or assistance in Israel’s current military campaign?

Hi, my name is _______. I am calling to ask that you support Senator Sanders’ resolution, Senate Resolution 504, calling on the administration to investigate Israel’s indiscriminate bombing campaign in Gaza.
No state should be able to target civilians with impunity. Israel has killed nearly 24,000 Palestinians and over 10,000 children in Gaza since October 7. We continue to send Israel bunker buster bombs as it targets hospitals, clinics and ambulances have been systematically targeted.
As your constituent, I urge you to cosponsor and vote in favor of this resolution in order to ensure that the U.S. is not complicit in human rights violations in Gaza. 63% of voters agree that military aid to Israel should be conditioned on human rights, according to a November 2023 poll. We, your constituents, demand that our tax dollars are not used to commit these atrocities.
Please, take action now before it is too late. Thank you.
We are the majority and it’s time our elected officials listen to us…

Called in support for Oklahoma! A great resource for this is the 5calls app/website (https://5calls.org). If you put in your location you will automatically get your congresspeople’s and house rep’s phone numbers. I read the prompt off this post, but there are similar prompts on the app. I am not affiliated with the company but I have found this resource so useful I wanted to pass it along.
